  • From Dudhwa National Park: Via Palia - Nighasan Raod, approx. 85 km in 1 hour 50 minutes journey.

By Train:

The closest railway stations to Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary are:

  • Bahraich Railway Station (BRK) is 80 km Linked with Lucknow and other big cities. One can find taxis and buses here to reach Katarniaghat.
  • Bichiya Railway Station - It is the nearest to sanctuary but train services are scarce, it is connected through Mailani railway network.
  • A larger one is Lucknow Railway Station with a better connection and could be utilized as an origin point of further road travel up to Katarniaghat.

By Air:

The closest airport is Lucknow International Airport (LKO) -Approx. 230km, Properly connected with other big cities of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, etc.). At the airport, the traveler can either get a taxi service or a train to commute to Bahraich and by road to Katarniaghat.

Local Transport and Entry of Safari:

When you get to Katarniaghat the sanctuary is accessed through Motipur and Kakraha ranges. Safaris are done within the forest department, at the entry gates there are registered vehicles, and guides.

You are advised to book your safari early and settle in advance at Forest Rest Houses or other eco-lodges around to save yourself the last-minute inconvenience.
